Our Story

We are the Mitsdarffer's, Jason, Chris, Shelby, Maddie, and Zayla..........

Our story and lives were actually quite normal...until.  Until our youngest was diagnosed with leukemia on January 15, 2005.  Zayla went almost two years on treatment when she relapsed in December of 2006.  She ended up having a bone marrow transplant from her sister Shelby in July 2007 at the age of 6.  Fast forward six pretty uneventful years and Zayla was once again faced with the cancer monster....but this time it was a secondary cancer due to treatment for leukemia.  Anaplastic Astrocytoma Glioma brain cancer was the newest battle.  Zayla has endured numerous radiation treatments and chemotherapy once again.  Unfortunately, we just can't seem to get rid of "Bob" the tumor (as she has named him).

We are writing this blog to journal all of our thoughts and feelings of this childhood cancer experiences.  WE really hate the way the media and society portrays the unreal parts of cancer.  Yes, there can be some good points....but let's get real, there is a lot of crappy moments.  Plus we have lots of pointers and experiences that maybe will help others going down this road.
